What Is the Confident Speaking Club? Online English Speaking Practice

The Confident Speaking Club by Confident Steps is an online English speaking and communication practice community for professionals, young adults, and higher-education students who want to become more confident communicators.

The club is especially designed for people who already have basic English conversation skills but struggle with confidence, fluency, hesitation, or expressing themselves clearly. Rather than focusing mainly on grammar and English theory, the Confident Speaking Club provides regular opportunities to practice speaking English with real people in a supportive virtual environment.

Members join live group sessions on Zoom and interact with people from different backgrounds, including participants from South Asian countries. This makes the club both an English conversation practice platform and a community where members can meet new people, exchange ideas, and develop professional communication skills.

How Does the Confident Speaking Club Work?

Members participate in three online English speaking practice sessions every week, with each session focusing on a different area of communication.

Day 1: Interpersonal Communication

The first session focuses on interpersonal communication and conversation skills. Members practice everyday and professional conversations while developing active listening, body language, voice modulation, conversational fluency, and the ability to express ideas clearly.

Day 2: Public Speaking and Speech Delivery

The second session provides online public speaking practice. Members prepare and deliver speeches while practicing storytelling, speech structure, pauses, emphasis, vocal variety, hand gestures, body language, and techniques for managing nervousness.

Day 3: Discussions and Debates

The third session focuses on group discussions and debate practice. Members learn how to express opinions confidently, structure arguments, disagree respectfully, respond to counterarguments, ask effective questions, and communicate persuasively.

These three areas including interpersonal communication, public speaking, and discussions and debates form the core weekly practice structure of the Confident Speaking Club.

More Than an English Speaking Class

In addition to three weekly practice sessions, members receive a weekly communication workshop and access to the online course Speaking English Fluently.

The Confident Speaking Club is not designed for complete beginners learning English from scratch. It is an intermediate English speaking club for people who can already communicate in English but want more opportunities to practice.

Through consistent English speaking practice, guided activities, feedback, and interaction with other members, the club helps participants develop greater confidence for workplace conversations, meetings, interviews, presentations, networking, public speaking, group discussions, and everyday communication. The curriculum also includes practical work on voice, body language and real-life communication.

Ultimately, the Confident Speaking Club provides something difficult to develop through theory alone: a regular place to speak, practice, make mistakes, receive feedback, and gradually become a more confident English communicator.

Who Should Join the Confident Speaking Club?

The Confident Speaking Club is designed for people who can already communicate in English but want to become more confident, fluent, and effective speakers. Most members are professionals, young adults, and students in higher education who want to prepare themselves for academic and professional communication.

The club can be particularly useful for people who understand English but hesitate when speaking, struggle to organize their thoughts quickly, feel nervous during presentations or meetings, or simply do not have enough opportunities to practice English communication regularly.

Because the focus is on practical speaking rather than basic grammar lessons, members are expected to have basic English communication skills before joining. The goal is to turn existing English knowledge into greater confidence through consistent practice.

What Communication Skills Can Members Practice?

The club goes beyond general English conversation practice. Activities are designed to develop communication skills that members can use in professional, academic, and social situations.

Members practice interpersonal communication, public speaking, speech delivery, active listening, body language, voice modulation, storytelling, persuasive communication, discussions, debates, and expressing ideas clearly. The curriculum also includes practical skills such as starting conversations, adapting communication to different audiences, using pauses and emphasis, structuring speeches, responding to counterarguments, and asking effective questions.

Why Practice English Communication in a Group?

Speaking confidently is difficult to develop through reading or watching lessons alone. The Confident Speaking Club gives members regular opportunities to speak English with real people in a live online environment.

Group practice exposes members to different ideas, communication styles, and speaking situations. Members can participate in conversations, deliver speeches, discuss topics, debate ideas, receive feedback, and learn through interaction with other speakers. The club also creates opportunities to meet people from different geographical backgrounds while developing communication skills.
